John Hogan is CEO and Co-Founder of Real World Analytics. Our marketing team sat with him for a quick Q&A to learn about why he co-founded the company and what motivates him.
I co-founded Real World Analytics (RWA) with Conall as I originally needed a more flexible life due to family circumstances at the time. As they say, necessity is the mother of all invention! We started supplying data analytics to retailers, and quickly focused in on pharmacies thereafter creating RWA Pharmacy and then, RWA Automotive was created in 2020.
Very scary! I went from a business that was pretty predictable in a very positive way with a big team to a windowless office with Conall and no income. We backed ourselves and Conall took charge of sales and marketing, and I was in charge of the product. We grew from there.
Two things. Firstly, I love when a plan comes together! So, when we suggest to a retailer that they can make more money in an area and then they achieve it, it’s a great feeling. Secondly, I love growing people and their careers, this gives me a huge amount of satisfaction.
The common thread is that they are complicated businesses with the devil in the detail. They’re awash with data but lacking actionable insights to resolve problems and maximise opportunities before the month end close. We put everything on a plate for each manager in the businesses.
It's not for the faint hearted! You need to have a burning desire to help your customers in an area that is your strength so that you can truly add value.
My vision for real world analytics is to be the leader in each sector that we operate in in terms of helping our customers be more successful using actionable insights. We have recently launched our solutions into two new sectors, Wholesaling and Automotive OEM’s. I am really excited to see our newest solutions roll out into these sectors.
